Challenge
The goal was to build an original bilingual children’s storytelling channel from the ground up — not just as a YouTube presence, but as a cohesive narrative universe with long-term brand potential.
The challenge extended far beyond content production. Together with my brother, we set out to create a fully original intellectual property: distinctive characters that would not resemble or be influenced by existing well-known franchises, entirely original storylines, and a unique tone and atmosphere.
Additionally, we had to navigate the technical and strategic aspects of production — from voice recording in two languages to video editing workflows and social media growth strategy — all while learning new software and refining our creative direction through continuous iteration.
The project demanded thousands of hours of concept development, experimentation, refinement, and, at times, starting over entirely to achieve the quality and originality we envisioned.
Characters
Solution
In collaboration with my brother, I co-created and developed the entire narrative ecosystem behind The Sleepy Storyteller — from world-building and character design to production and distribution strategy.
Our work included:
→ Creating fully original characters, carefully designed to avoid visual or narrative similarities with established entertainment brands.
→ Writing original scripts and developing cohesive story arcs within a shared universe.
→ Selecting and curating background music and sound effects to create an immersive, calming atmosphere.
→ Recording and producing the storyteller’s voice in two languages (Romanian and English).
→ Learning and implementing advanced video editing workflows in DaVinci Resolve — after initially exploring Final Cut Pro — to achieve the cinematic pacing and visual control we were aiming for.
→ Developing the visual identity and overall brand direction.
→ Building and executing a social media strategy, including content creation and audience positioning.
The transition from Final Cut Pro to DaVinci Resolve required a complete relearning of post-production workflows, color grading systems, and audio integration — a challenge that ultimately expanded our technical capabilities and elevated the final output.
Beyond storytelling, this project became a comprehensive exercise in IP creation, product development, and content ecosystem design. Every element — from script to sound design to distribution — was intentionally crafted to ensure originality, coherence, and long-term scalability.
This ongoing initiative reflects my commitment to creative ownership, strategic thinking, and continuous learning — transforming a simple idea into a structured, bilingual storytelling brand built with care, persistence, and creative discipline.
